![]() Let's Talk Terpenes IN HEMP ESSENTIAL OIL When you purchase our artisan crafted CBD + hemp essential oil products, you are gaining access to a host of benefits from the compounds in our body butter, pain salve, and Serenity Drops. We love talking about all the wonderful ways that our products can help our customers, and today we want talk about terpenes. Terpenes are found in several types of plants. Foods and floral plants contain terpenes, including turmeric, mangoes, coriander and basil. Terpenes have several functions and are found in both marijuana and hemp. They are responsible for giving the plants their distinctive scents, and the different types of terpenes have different benefits as well. Terpenes and cannabinoids are like buddies that, when combined, bind to endocannabinoid receptors, and produce a certain result depending on the strain of hemp and it's terpene profile. For example, some varietals of hemp will contain terpene profiles that will be most effective for pain, some for anxiety, and others for sleep. Pinpointing which terpenes are most beneficial for treating specific ailments in targeted ways is a unique and exciting topic in the Hemp CBD world. We have our plants tested so that we know their specific profiles, which gives our customers the opportunity to choose blends that target their needs. Becoming familiar with terpenes can help our customers choose the best oil varietals to help them with things like relaxation, sleep, pain, or mood elevation. Enjoy!! Health in Challenging Times Needless to say, these are challenging times. Keeping our bodies healthy and our minds calm has never been more important or more challenging. While the world is stocking their pantries, let us not forget to stock our medicine cabinets as well. Mine is more of an herbal apothecary, as you all know. Adaptogenic herbs do what they sound like: help us adapt, to both internal and external stresses. Medicinal muchrooms such as Reishi, Chaga, Cordyceps and Turkey Tail are great sources for this as well as Rhodiola, Schisandra berry, Ashwaganda and Licorice. There are also lots of anti-viral benefits available in herbs and spices including Clove, Allspice, Ginger, Garlic, Echinacea, Fennel, Oregano, Thyme, Astragalas & Elderberry. I've been keeping a pot of adaptogenic and anti-viral tea on the stove top and enjoying at least one cup a day to maintain health and strength. For the spicer herbs ( garlic, oregano, thyme) I like to use them in food... chimmichurri perhaps? Have fun with your herbs & use them. Love your self, love the world, love your family. Now is truly a time to count our blessings and Pray for Peace. - Melanie Giffen
